Hogy - Charter Grade 'Franken' Chug Popper

The Hogy Charter Grade Franken Chug Popper is a topwater lure designed to provide both chugging and walking presentations in a single profile. Developed using feedback from a large group of saltwater anglers, the lure’s body shape, balance, and weighting are intended to support versatile surface presentations across a range of conditions.

The lure features a bulky baitfish-style body designed to imitate common offshore and inshore forage such as bunker, herring, and mackerel. Its oval taper and balanced silhouette also allow it to resemble squid or similar soft-bodied prey. A hybrid cupped face allows the lure to produce surface disturbance when popped, while also transitioning into a controlled side-to-side action when worked with lighter rod input.

Built with a rear-weighted balance, the Franken Chug Popper is designed to support longer casts and improved wind penetration when used from both boats and shore. The body incorporates a V-shaped belly track to help maintain stability in current seams, surf, and moving water. It is rigged with a single VMC belly treble hook and trailing flag, a configuration intended to reduce fouling and support controlled hook placement during use.
