Luhr-Jensen - Crippled Herring

The Luhr-Jensen Crippled Herring is a versatile metal fishing lure designed for vertical jigging and casting, in both freshwater and saltwater. Its distinctive high-action design creates an erratic baitfish presentation that works throughout the water column, making it a flexible option for targeting a wide variety of gamefish.

For vertical jigging, the Crippled Herring can be worked with a slow, extended lift followed by a quick drop of the rod tip. This allows the lure to produce its characteristic action on the fall, making it especially useful when targeting fish located with sonar. In colder water, adding a brief pause at the bottom of the drop can provide a slower presentation for less active fish.

The Crippled Herring is equally effective when cast and retrieved, allowing anglers to adapt the same lure to changing depths and fishing conditions. Luhr-Jensen recommends selecting the smallest size appropriate for the application to maximize the lure's action and maintain a natural baitfish profile.
